Productive Weekend

The family was EXTREMELY productive this weekend. We started our herb garden next to the house. The kids planted wildflower seeds behind the herbs, and then we tried out some honeysuckle on the lattice behind the garden. We'll see if that takes off. Andy also made a new garden thanks to the dogs constantly digging up our front yard grass. We added in some lilacs, hydrangeas, and Russian sage, along with some plant claiming to be a natural dog repellent...we shall see!  Check out our watering rainbow!
We recently bought a share in Fluvanna's Community Garden at Pleasant Grove from our friends moving to India. We get a 10 x 15 plot to plant our veggies in year-round for $40. It's enclosed to keep out critters, and unlike our yard, is in an always sunny spot!  I took some photos of the neighboring plots as well. See if you can tell the veteran gardeners!  We're sticking with what we know this year: 10 tomatoes, bunches of peppers, and cucumbers. Coming soon: canteloupes!

After all this strenuous manual labor, we headed to the river with the pups for a few hours. The kids swam despite the freezing water temps. The current was very strong so we stayed shallow this time around.
